  • The value of production in the household furniture sector came close to €1.6 billion in 2025, up 3.6% on the figure recorded in the previous year, in a context in which overseas sales rose 5.8%, exceeding €850 million, and imports surpassed €1.1 billion.

  • The sector continues to show a high degree of fragmentation, although average company size is still increasing. In 2024, the top ten companies jointly accounted for 31% of total production.

  • INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the basic 'Household Furniture' Sectoral Report.

Madrid, 7 April 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—the value of Spanish household furniture production rose 3.6% in 2025, reaching €1,595 million, amid a rebound in overseas sales and higher sales in Spain, supported by the positive performance of the real estate market and improved financing conditions.

Exports in the sector rose 5.8%, reaching €852 million. The main destinations were France, Portugal, the United States, Germany, and Italy, which together accounted for nearly 60% of total export value.

Imports were highly dynamic (+9.1%), standing at €1,176 million, widening the trade balance deficit to €324 million. China remained the main source of imports, with a share of around 50% of total import value, followed by Italy, Poland and Vietnam.

Growing customer price sensitivity, the expected rise in some production costs, and the distribution channel's increasing bargaining power are making it difficult to significantly improve sector profitability in the short term. Also notable is the threat to manufacturers posed by pressure on margins from imported products.

In January 2025, there were 9,373 manufacturing companies of all types of furniture, down 3.9% year-over-year, from 9,751 a year earlier. Small companies predominate: about 90% have fewer than ten employees, while only 1.7% have more than 50 employees.

Andalusia is the autonomous community with the highest number of companies, with 19.9% of the total, followed by Catalonia (14.3%), Comunidad Valenciana (11.7%) and Madrid (9.2%). These four regions account for 55.1% of the total.

In recent years, the level of supply concentration has increased significantly. In 2024, the top five companies in the sector by total revenue held a combined production share of 22.4%, rising to 31.4% when considering the top ten.
