INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the 'Household Furniture' Basic Sectoral Report.
Madrid, 7 April 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—the value of Spanish household furniture output grew 3.6% in 2025, reaching €1,595 million, amid a rebound in overseas sales and rising sales in Spain, supported by the positive performance of the real estate market and improved financing conditions.
Exports in the sector rose 5.8%, reaching €852 million. The main destinations were France, Portugal, the United States, Germany, and Italy, which accounted for nearly 60% of total exports by value.
Imports were highly dynamic (+9.1%), standing at €1,176 million, widening the trade deficit to €324 million. China remained the main source of imports, with a share of around 50% of total import value, followed by Italy, Poland and Vietnam.
Growing customer price sensitivity, the expected rise in some production costs, and the distribution channel's increasing bargaining power are hampering any significant improvement in sector profitability in the short term. Also notable is the threat to manufacturers from margin pressure exerted by imported products.
In January 2025, there were 9,373 furniture manufacturers of all types, down 3.9% year-on-year, from 9,751 a year earlier. Small companies predominate: around 90% have fewer than ten employees, while only 1.7% have over 50 employees.
Andalusia is the autonomous community with the highest number of companies, with 19.9% of the total, followed by Catalonia (14.3%), Comunidad Valenciana (11.7%) and Madrid (9.2%). These four regions account for 55.1% of the total.
In recent years, supply concentration has increased markedly. In 2024, the top five companies in the sector by total revenue held a combined output share of 22.4%, rising to 31.4% when considering the top ten.
