INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the 'Building and Facilities Maintenance' Special Report.
Madrid, 22 January 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatoryâa leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugalâturnover from the provision of technical building and facilities maintenance services rose again in 2024, amid favourable demand trends, although with a smaller increase than in the previous year. Sector revenue thus reached €10.49 billion, up 5.4%, versus 8.2% in 2023.
The industry, energy and other facilities segment again showed the strongest momentum, rising 6.2% to €4.615 billion and accounting for 44% of the total; while building maintenance reached €5.875 billion, up 4.8%. However, the latter segment continued to carry the greatest weight, representing 56% of the total.
By service type, lift maintenance accounted for 22% of sector revenue, followed by industrial machinery maintenance services (19%) and electrical/lighting installations (19%), with air conditioning next (13%).
Provisional data for year-end 2025 indicate the market may have stood above €11 billion, with growth of around 5.2%, thereby maintaining the trend of continued slowing in growth.
The sector features a small number of large operators, active in most autonomous communities. However, most companies are medium-sized or small and operate locally or regionally.
Among the main operators are multiservice groups, specialised in providing a range of auxiliary services to businesses, as well as installation and assembly companies. They are joined by lift manufacturers and installers, which maintain the equipment they have installed.
The sector shows a trend towards a higher degree of concentration of activity among the main operators, such that the top five held a combined market share of 22.1% in 2024; the top ten, 32.1%.
