-
Overseas sales of fruits and vegetables reached 18,569 million euros in 2025, up 6% from the previous year and about 75% higher than in 2014, the year since when they have continued to grow.
-
The high export volume and the growing association of producers and marketers have, in recent years, resulted in an increase in the size of the companies operating in the sector. The combined revenue of the top thirty wholesalers now exceeds 12,000 million euros.

INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the basic 'Fruits and Vegetables' Sectoral Report.
Madrid, 12 March 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—provisional data for year-end 2025 indicate that the value of fruit and vegetable production rose 14.9%, to 28,150 million euros, driven by higher prices, especially in the fruit segment.
The value of fruit production grew strongly, up 24.1% to 15,016 million euros. Vegetable production totalled 13,134 million euros, up 5.9%, although volume fell 1.2%.
Fruit and vegetable exports rose again in 2025, reaching 18,569 million euros (+6.0%). As a result, Spanish overseas sales of fruits and vegetables recorded eleven consecutive years of increases since the 2014 decline, accumulating a 75% rise since then.
Fruit exports increased 8.8% to 10,548 million euros, while vegetable exports rose 2.5% (8,021 million). Fruit and vegetable imports, meanwhile, climbed 13.2% to 5,203 million euros.
The European Union remained the main destination for Spanish exports, accounting for 84% of fruit exports and 79% of vegetable exports, respectively. Germany, France and the United Kingdom were the leading destination countries in both segments. Imports from Morocco also stood out, accounting for 19% of total fruit imports and 42% in the case of vegetables.
The sector features a large number of small and medium-sized producers, although there is a growing trend towards integration and association in producer and marketing organisations. In specialised wholesale distribution, concentration is higher.
The combined turnover of the top ten operators in the sector stood at nearly 7,400 million euros in 2024, while the top twenty generated just over 10,000 million and the top thirty exceeded 12,200 million euros.
