  • The marina management business continues to rise, underpinned by Spain's strong positioning as a nautical destination, alongside the modernisation of facilities and the expansion of services carried out in recent years.

  • The coexistence of nautical activity, technical services, retail offering and catering in more integrated and sustainable models is the main trend in the sector. A growing presence of international groups is also being observed.

  • There are currently nearly 290 marinas operating in Spain, with total capacity of around 134,200 berths, 67% of which are located in the Mediterranean.

  • INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the basic Sectoral Report 'Marina Facilities'.

Madrid, 11 May 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—the sale and rental of permanent and transit berths in Spanish marinas has shown sustained growth in recent years, supported by Spain's positioning as a leading nautical destination and by progress in modernising facilities and expanding services.

The main business drivers are the large marinas in the Balearic Islands, Comunidad Valenciana, Andalusia (Costa del Sol and Cadiz), Catalonia and the Canary Islands. However, it is worth noting that medium-sized marinas in other regions improved their management and strengthened their value proposition.

In March 2026, a total of 289 marinas were identified in Spain, with capacity of 134,200 berths, 67% of which were located in Mediterranean ports. The average number of berths per marina stood at 464.

Andalusia and Catalonia were the autonomous communities with the highest number of marinas at that date, with 48 and 45 facilities, respectively, followed by Comunidad Valenciana (39) and the Balearic Islands (37).

Catalonia accounted for the highest number of berths, with 29,294, followed by Andalusia (21,864) and Comunidad Valenciana (20,819). Including the Balearic Islands and Galicia, the top five regions jointly accounted for 77% of total supply in March 2026.

An estimated 80% of berths are operated by private companies via concession contracts, while the remaining 20% are managed directly by regional entities and port authorities that own the ports.

Short-term revenue growth forecasts are favourable, amid marinas' increasing shift towards more integrated models combining nautical activity, technical services, retail offering and catering, links with urban areas and sustainability. Meanwhile, the presence of international groups in the business continues to expand.
