  • Sales of health & diet food products in Spain continue on a steady growth path. They are estimated to have reached a value of around €1.4 billion in 2025, up 4.5% year-over-year, a similar change to that recorded in the previous two fiscal years.

  • The degree of concentration of supply tends to increase, as a result of corporate mergers and acquisitions, despite a steady inflow of new competitors, attracted by the positive trend in demand and the business's growth potential.

  • INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the 'Health & Diet Food Products' Sectoral Report.

Madrid, 3 February 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—demand for health & diet food products has been supported in recent years by the positive trend in household spending and the population's shift towards healthier lifestyles.

With cumulative growth of 22% from pre-pandemic levels, sales of these products in Spain reached a value of €1.34 billion in 2024, up 4.3% year-over-year. The provisional figure at year-end 2025 is estimated at around €1.4 billion, representing a further increase of 4.5%.

Demographic ageing, the higher incidence of chronic diseases, allergies and intolerances, and the population's growing awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyles continued to support growth in demand for health & diet food products.

In 2024, food supplements are estimated to have accounted for 40% of market value, followed by foods for metabolic disorders and enteral nutrition, which together represented 28%. The remaining 32% was split between low-calorie diets, diet foods and medicinal herbs.

Foreign trade has shown very dynamic performance in recent years. Particularly noteworthy was the faster growth in exports, whose value rose 13% in 2024. The European Union was the destination for nearly 44% of total export value in that fiscal year.

In December 2025, there were 1,136 companies registered as authorised to produce or import food supplements, total diet replacement products for weight control and foods for special medical purposes, with a steady inflow of new competitors in recent years.

Despite the increase in the number of competitors, the sector shows a high degree of concentration. The top five operators jointly held 34% of total market value in 2024; the top ten, nearly 50%.
