Temperature-controlled transport and distribution activities account for nearly 80% of sector turnover, although warehousing once again showed stronger momentum, with growth of around 6.5% in 2025.

INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the 'Low Temperature Logistic Services' Special Report.
Madrid, 23 June 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—turnover from the provision of temperature-controlled logistics services posted growth of 4.3% in 2025, standing at €6.0 billion.
This growth took place amid rising outsourcing of logistics services and buoyant consumption of chilled and frozen products, which drove demand for logistics operations from sectors such as retailing, e-commerce and pharmaceuticals.
Temperature-controlled transport and distribution activities accounted for 79.2% of the total market, with growth of 3.8% in 2025. Meanwhile, warehousing and warehouse operations stood out for stronger momentum, rising 6.4% to €1.25 billion.
The market share of temperature-controlled services within the overall transport and warehousing market continued to increase, now accounting for 27.3% of revenue, highlighting the growing relevance of these specialised activities within the wider logistics sector.
The supply structure continued to show the sector consolidation process, via acquisitions and mergers, as well as the closure of small operators. The top five companies reached a combined market share of 42.3% in 2025; the top ten, 55.8%.
However, a large number of small companies remained, mainly focused on transport, alongside a small group of operators with a strong presence in warehousing services. In this latter area, warehouses were highly concentrated among the largest operators.
Sector employment stood at around 25,000 workers, after rising significantly in recent fiscal years.
