Retail furniture sales rose 3.1% in 2025 to €4.16 billion. Growth was supported by strong residential market conditions and rising investment in housing and collective spaces.
-
At €2.88 billion, household furniture accounted for 69% of total turnover. Kitchen furniture, meanwhile, represented 18%.

The sector will continue to grow in the short and medium term, although it will lose momentum amid household spending restraint and higher financing costs.

INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the 'Furniture Retailing' Sectoral Report.
Madrid, 10 September 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—companies engaged in furniture retailing in Spain generated revenue of €4.16 billion in 2025, representing growth of 3.1% year-over-year, following the moderate 1.5% rise posted in 2024.
The positive performance of the real estate market, buoyant demand linked to renovations and the outfitting of second homes, together with increased investment in collective-use spaces, underpinned this trend.
By segment, retail sales of household furniture reached €2.88 billion that year, accounting for 69% of the market's total value and rising 2.9% from 2024. The favourable evolution of the residential market and renovations supported growth in this segment.
Meanwhile, the kitchen furniture market represented 17.9% of the total, worth €745 million, up 3.5%; while revenue in the office furniture segment grew 4.3%, reaching €365 million (8.8% of the total).
Specialised retailing is estimated to have accounted for 87% of retail furniture sales in 2025, with the remainder split between hypermarkets, department stores and DIY retailers. As for online channel penetration, it is estimated to currently exceed 23% of sales value, including furniture, lighting and household goods.
Turnover in furniture retailing will maintain an upward trend in the short and medium term, albeit at a slower pace than in recent years, amid greater restraint in household spending and higher financing costs.
By mid-2026, there were about 5,450 active companies engaged in the retail sale of furniture, lighting equipment, tableware and other household articles in specialised shops. The expansion of large chains, both branch-based and franchised, continued, alongside purchasing groups operating under a common brand. The combined market share of the top five operators exceeded 49% in 2025.
