Five groups account for nearly 70% of Spain's lifts market
-
The lifts sector's turnover rose 10% in the Spanish market in 2025, surpassing €3.3 billion, while forecasts for year-end 2026 point to an additional increase of around 7%.
-
In recent years, the acquisition of companies by large groups has driven the sector's concentration process, with the top five now accounting for nearly 70% of market value.
-
INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the 'Lifts' Sectoral Report.
Madrid, 6 October 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory—a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal—the value of Spain's lifts and other lifting equipment market rose 9.9% in 2025 to €3.32 billion, accelerating compared with the previous two years, when growth rates were around 7-8%.
Higher construction activity, the granting of public aid and rising prices boosted revenue from the installation of new lifts, as well as maintenance, renovation and modernisation services.
The installation segment performed more strongly, up 13.5% to €840 million. Demand for the installation of lifts in existing residential buildings was particularly buoyant. Meanwhile, the maintenance and repair business increased 8.8% to €2.48 billion. This segment has benefited from increasingly stringent legal requirements on safety, accessibility and environmental compliance.
Following the sharp fall the previous year, exports fell again in 2025, albeit by a smaller margin. Thus, the value of overseas sales stood at €623 million, 15% below the peak reached two years earlier. Seventeen per cent of that total was sold in France, the main destination ahead of the United Kingdom and Portugal.
The market will rise again by around 6-7% per year in the 2026-2027 period, approaching €3.8 billion in the final year. The projected strong performance of the construction sector, which could be reinforced by programmes to build new social rental housing, as well as subsidies for building refurbishment and improvements in energy efficiency, points to a continuation of the market's growth trend
Supply is becoming increasingly concentrated among the main groups, which continue to acquire established companies to gain scale and expand their maintenance equipment portfolios. Nevertheless, the sector is still made up mainly of small companies focused on equipment maintenance and repair, with a limited geographic reach. In 2025, the top five operators held a combined market share of 68.5%, while the top ten accounted for 82%.
